Most rankings are somebody's opinion. This one is arithmetic, and every rule that produces it is on this page. Run the same rules over the same results and you get the same list - there is no hidden thumb on the scale.
How a fighter earns a place.
A win is worth more when you finish
Knockout and TKO score 3. Submission scores 2. A decision scores 1. A strike finish is a strike finish - KO and TKO are worth the same.
Finishing early is worth more than finishing late
A first-round finish is multiplied by 1.5, second round 1.25, third round 1.15. A decision went the distance, so it earns no finish bonus.
Who you beat counts
Every opponent is rated on their own record, and that rating multiplies the win - from 0.4x against the weakest opposition to 1.7x against the strongest. Geography plays no part.
A loss costs you, but it does not bury you
A loss is priced on a compressed scale: 35% of its value is subtracted, and how you lost is a modifier, not a multiplier. Nobody should be afraid to take a fight.
Recent fights count for more, old fights still count
Weighting ramps down over 36 months and then flattens at 60%. History is never thrown away.
Fight once a year or come off the list
12 months without a Combat Night bout and a fighter is no longer ranked. An eligible fighter is then scored on their entire record, not just the last year.
A short record cannot fake a great one
Scores start at the halfway mark of 50 and move as evidence accumulates, so two wins cannot outrank ten. Professionals and amateurs are ranked separately and never against each other.
Every number above is read directly from the ranking engine when this page is built, so the published rules and the rules that produced the board below are the same rules.
